What follows is what buyshelf.net records when you read a page, and what happens once you leave for Amazon.

What the server keeps

There is no sign-up, no basket and no checkout here, so there is no customer database. The server keeps the usual access log — page, timestamp, browser, referring page, shortened IP address. Mail you send us is kept so we can answer it.

Amazon and your data

Once you click through to Amazon you are on Amazon’s site under Amazon’s terms. The tag in the link tells them the visit came from here. They send us totals, never details of who bought what.

Cookies

No tracking cookie originates here. A cookie may appear if you comment or log in. Anything set by Amazon after you follow a link is set by Amazon.

How we count readers

Visit counting may be handled by an analytics provider. What comes back is aggregate — page views and referrers — never a name.

Control

Blocking cookies costs you nothing here — the pages work without them. If you are covered by the GDPR in the EU or UK, or by California privacy law, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased. [email protected] is the address for that.

Younger readers

Nothing here is directed at children, and we do not knowingly gather data about anyone under the age at which consent is required where they live.

Revisions are published here, replacing what came before. We do not keep old versions on the site.
